OLD STATE CAPITOL FOUNDATION
Canapés at the Capitol is an event of the Old State Capitol Foundation, a non-profit organization, to bring a world-class square to downtown Springfield by the 2018 Illinois Bicentennial. The project includes a new strolling path, beautiful gardens, & planters for the downtown square.
This wouldn't be possible without generous visitors, the Old State Capitol Foundation, & project partners: CopperTree Outdoor Lifestyles, the Springfield Civic Garden Club, & Classic Garden Ornaments of Pomona, Illinois.

OLD STATE CAPITOL
The Old State Capitol is a reconstruction of Illinois' fifth statehouse. The building served as the seat of government and center of Illinois political life from 1839-1876, and featured prominently in the lives of President Abraham Lincoln and Stephan A. Douglas. Lincoln delivered his "House Divided" speech in Representative Hall and used the governor's rooms as headquarters during his 1860 presidential campaign. The building was the scene of the assassinated President Lincoln final laying-in state on May 3-4, 1865.

LINCOLN TOMB
Within the walls of a stunning granite monument is the final resting place of Abraham Lincoln, his wife Mary, and three of their four sons. The tomb, completed in 1874, was designed by famed sculptor Larkin Mead. At the entrance to the tomb is a bronze bust of Mr. Lincoln; visitors from around the world have stopped to rub the nose of the stature for good luck.

LINCOLN-HERNDON LAW OFFICES
Abraham Lincoln practiced law in the upper floor offices of this building from 1843 until 1852; it is the only surviving structure in which Lincoln maintained working law offices. The Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau Visitor Center is open on the ground floor of the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices State Historic Site. The Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau is the official destination marketing organization for Springfield, IL.
